No warning lights, no smells — just a stuck pedal and no way to change gears. We were stranded, stressed, and unsure of what to do. Thankfully, we were truly blessed with not one, but two incredible people: the tow truck driver (whose name, regretfully, I’ve forgotten) and the mechanic at Service Mécanique Auto 33. The tow driver didn’t just drop us off — he made the connection and helped us land in the right hands. The mechanic — kind, calm, and honest — could have easily taken advantage of the situation. We were clearly vulnerable, foreigners, and stuck. But he didn’t. Instead, he stopped work on other cars ahead of ours just to help us get back on the road quickly. He quoted a fair price, communicated with clarity, and treated us with genuine respect. The full clutch system was replaced the same day, and we were safely back on our way. Although I was born in France, my French is really rusty. But he made sure that the language barrier wouldn’t become a real one. We found a way to communicate — and that made all the difference. As someone who actively defends a more tolerant and united world, this experience was a powerful reminder: goodness has no religion, no colour, no border. One Saturday, while visiting family in Bordeaux, we noticed our BMW was leaking fuel... we had to return to the Hautes-Pyrénées the next day... panic ensued until the SMA garage told us to bring it in for a check-up. The result was a simple fuel filter replacement, the leak was gone, and we were able to get back on the road on time. Thank you to these professionals, attentive to the customer and offering excellent value for money. I highly recommend them!
While passing through Bordeaux with a campervan I'd just purchased, an engine light came on, and I was panicking. It was late Friday afternoon. The mechanic saw me right away, performed a complete diagnostic, and quickly found the problem. Very professional, personable, and caring—he really helped me even though I was coming from far away and had to leave the same day for 900 km. It's rare to find someone so responsive and honest. A big thank you, I highly recommend this garage! 👏👍
